We began with a trip to the National Archives. We were hoping to get inside and shoot an exhibition which had unfortunately just been disassembled. We were put in touch with the director of the Archives who for the first time in history is woman and a feminist! We’re hoping to interview her while we’re here. We then went on to shot two excellent interviews. The first was with poet Soledad Fariña, we then shot a little bit of a conversation between Soledad and Eliana Ortega, long time friends and peers. We then shot with Eliana alone.
From a production standpoint we’re working pretty quickly and efficiently to set up shots in spaces we’ve likely never seen or scouted before. Evan is very experienced at working like this on the fly which is incredibly helpful.
We’re shooting with two cameras. The Ursa mini pro GI is our A Cam and we have that usually set up in a wider angle. The B Cam is a Black Magic Pocket and we’ve got that set up as a closer, more intimate shot at a slightly different angle to give us some variation in the edit.
