On Sunday we spoke to Sophia Brito who was a part of the tomas (occupations) that took place at Universidad de Chile last year. She was marvelous. We also had the honor of talking to Faride Zeran, the Vice President of Communications and Extención at Universidad de Chile.
She also edited a collection of essays and articles about the new resistance against the patriarchy in Chile and the womxn and students behind it.
Today we spoke with Actress, Dramaturg, Playwright and author Nora Fernandez who mentioned how influential Pia Barros and Diamela Eltit have been, which made us even more excited about our interviews with them!
Now we’re prepping for 4 interviews tomorrow, all in different locations across the city so we’ll need to be efficient!
On Sunday we visited el Museo de la Memoria y Derechos Humanos, completed in 2010, which gives a detailed history of the, golpe de estado which happened in 1973, the dictatorship and Chile’s transition back to democracy. It is an amazing space and contains a moving photo wall filled with pictures of Desaparecidos.
